As an experienced civil rights attorney, I fight for people who have been injured or killed by police. I handle the most serious civil rights cases, representing the families of people who have died in jail or police custody, as well as the victims of police shootings, beatings, and false arrests. My passion is obtaining justice for my clients and my goal is to fundamentally change policing in San Diego for the better.
I began my fight against injustice as an intern with the ACLU in Washington D.C. investigating civil rights violations. I continued this fight as a public defender in San Diego, where I represented some of our most vulnerable citizens against unconstitutional police practices and overly aggressive prosecution.
I graduated cum laude from the University of Utah and magna cum laude from California Western School of Law. Before becoming an attorney, I was a sponsored skateboarder and snowboarder, and I competed in numerous competitions, including the Utah Winter Games. In my spare time, I foster abandoned dogs. I have fostered over 15 dogs, many of which I personally rescued.
